2013 Mocali Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Raunate DOCG ~ Red Wine

Mocali

$116.90

750 ml bottle

100% Sangiovese Grosso grapes from the Raunate vineyard situated on 350-metre slopes with mineral-rich soils of marl and limestone with sand and clay facing Castiglione del Bosco just southwest of Montalcino, Tuscany. 12 months aging in large oak casks followed by 24 months in small French oak barrels, in addition to almost six months in the bottle.

Very intense ruby red colour with garnet hues. Great aromatic complexity of ripe fruit, jam, and a soft hint of smoke combined with notes of toasted coffee and tobacco. Well-proportioned and elegant flavour, with a good tannic texture and big structure; long and persistent finale with pleasant spicy sensations.

Excellent with a variety of dishes, such as red meat, game, pasta with mushrooms and truffles, and mature cheeses.

  • About The Producer

The Mocali Estate is in a setting of natural Tuscan beauty, where vineyards and olive groves alternate with oak and pine forests. It was established in the 1950s by Dino Ciacci, who was one of the twenty-five founders of the Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino. He was succeeded by his nephew Tiziano Ciacci who is its present owner.

Situated to the southwest of Montalcino at an altitude of 350 metres above sea-level on the slopes facing Castiglione del Bosco, the Mocali estate is comprised of 32 hectares, four hectares of Sangiovese Grosso used to produce its prestigious Brunello di Montalcino. The soils are rich in minerals of marl and limestone with sand and clay.

Mocali wines continually receive excellent reviews from respected International wine critics and publications such as Robert Parker, James Suckling, Wine Spectator, Wine Advocate and Wine Enthusiast as well as awards in Gambero Rosso and Bibenda Italian wine guides.
