2019 Guado al Melo Criseo Bolgheri Bianco DOC ~ White Wine

Guado al Melo

$42.90

750 ml bottle

Certified sustainable winery

This wine is a field blend of Vermentino, Verdicchio, Fiano, Manzoni Bianco and Petit Manseng grapes from the 'Campo Bianco' vineyard in the hills of Castagneto Carducci (Bolgheri) that run along the southern Tuscan coastline.

Made without correctives or additives that would alter the original characteristics of the wine. The grapes are fermented together, then age for 12 months in stainless steel and a further 12 months in the bottle.

This wine "Criseo" means made of gold in ancient Etruscan. Indeed, once poured in the glass, it is a beautiful bright golden colour.

It is fresh and elegant, with hints of flowers, fruit, herbs, and honey in the finish. The aging of the wine increases its mineral notes. It is full-bodied, complex, rich, well balanced, and with a long finish.

It pairs perfectly with vegetarian, fish, or curry dishes, cheese, white meat, and pasta with white sauce, or simply enjoy it on its own!

This is a wine of continuous evolution with medium to long ageing potential.

  • About The Producer

The Guado al Melo winery is located in the Castagneto Carducci hills along the coast of Tuscany, in the heart of the Bolgheri DOC winemaking zone.
The name ‘Guado al Melo’ (Ford of the Apple) stretches far back in time. Indeed, the lands that comprise Guado al Melo have been dedicated to winemaking for more than 200 years. The Scienza family purchased the property in 1992 and revived the historically venerable vineyards.

Winemakers, Michele and Attilio Scienza and their families have generations of rich, wine-growing experience and adhere to the principles of sustainable and natural agriculture. They follow traditional methods and do not utilise any additional substances or chemical interventions that can harm the natural qualities of the grapes.

Guado al Melo Guado al Melo was awarded “Up-and-Coming Winery” in the prestigious Gambero Rosso 2016 Italian wine guide.
