Sustainable winery.

"Atis" is the name of a legendary ancient Etruscan king, the first civilization in Tuscany, and the first winegrowers.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Rebo (Merlot & Teroldego cross), and Cabernet Franc grapes from the "Campo Grande" and "Campo Ferro" vineyards in the hills of Castagneto Carducci (Bolgheri) that run along the Tuscan coastline. It is made without correctives or additives that would alter the original characteristics of the grapes.

It ages for 24 months in small used French oak barrels and 12 months in the bottle.

Deep ruby tending to garnet. Clean and elegant. Once in the glass, the various elements evolve little by little to its rich bouquet of spice, red fruit, licorice, and balsamic hints of peppermint (the latter a typical mark of the Bolgheri terroir). Intense and smooth palate, well balanced, and with a long finish.

It pairs perfectly with meat, rich pasta dishes, game, aged and blue cheese.

Medium-long aging potential

  • About The Producer

The Guado al Melo winery is located in the Castagneto Carducci hills along the coast of Tuscany, in the heart of the Bolgheri DOC winemaking zone.
The name ‘Guado al Melo’ (Ford of the Apple Tree) stretches far back in time. Indeed, the lands that comprise Guado al Melo have been dedicated to winemaking for more than 200 years. The Scienza family purchased the property in 1992 and revived the historically venerable vineyards.

Winemakers, Michele, and Attilio Scienza and their families have generations of rich, wine-growing experience and adhere to the principles of sustainable and natural agriculture. They follow traditional methods and do not utilise any additional substances or chemical interventions that can harm the natural qualities of the grapes.

Guado al Melo Guado al Melo was awarded “Up-and-Coming Winery” in the prestigious Gambero Rosso 2016 Italian wine guide.
