Abruzzo

Much of Abruzzo is mountainous and a part is hilly with the easterly coast overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
Montepulciano is undoubtedly the region’s most characteristic grape varietal and is an extremely pleasant food friendly red wine. It is often blended with other grapes such as Syrah and Cabernet and this results in exceptional tasting wines.
Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo is a fabulous rosé, which is produced from the Montepulciano grape.
The most famous white grape varietal is Trebbiano, also known as Trebbiano d’Abruzzo. Pecorino and Passerina are other popular white wines from this region.
