Malvasia del Lazio, Malvasia di Candia, and Trebbiano local grapes. Late harvest of the grapes handpicked on the plant. Maceration at low temperatures for at least 24 hours followed by fermentation in wooden vats and maturation on yeasts for a minimum of 12 months.

Bright golden yellow. Intensely aromatic nose with pineapple, apricot, and peach, lightly citrusy with subtle notes of lavender and yellow rose. A slightly sweet yet subtle palate, full of fruity acidity, and well balanced with long persistence of aromatic herbs and fruit.

Sublime paired with aged cheeses (especially blue cheese, gorgonzola), paté, pastries, or simply on its own.

  • About The Producer

Poggio le Volpi was founded by Felice Mergé in 1996. The estate is located between the town of Monte Porzio Catone and the Roman countryside about 20 kilometres southeast of Rome, in the Alban Hills. Monte Porzio Catone was formed by an extinct volcano that has given rise to the surrounding region of the Castelli Romani. 100 hectares of land cover the surface of volcanic soil with an optimum natural microclimate, which is ideal for grape growing.

Traditional white grapes such as Malvasia di Candia, Malvasia del Lazio, and Trebbiano together with red grapes such as Cesanese and Nero Buono are grown here. The main wine produced is “Frascati”, which has been DOCG for some years.

The Mergé family has many years of winemaking experience. Their philosophy is to produce a particularly attentive style of wine, have the utmost respect for the land, and exalt the richness of the territory.
