2019 Masca del Tacco Piano Chiuso Primitivo di Manduria Riserva DOP ~ Red Wine

Masca del Tacco

$72.90

750 ml bottle

100% Primitivo. The grapes come from one-hundred-year-old vines located in the municipality of Torricella, in the heart of the DOC Manduria area of Puglia. The wine ages in large wooden casks for a minimum of nine months with a further six months aging in the bottle before release.

Deep, bright ruby red with slight garnet hues. Complex nose with sensations of wild berries and cherries in alcohol, as well as violet, black pepper, and cloves, on a base of graphite and cocoa powder, all framed by an evident balsamic note. It's powerful and elegant, yet has a freshness and sapidity which gives it a fantastic drinkability, while tannins gently caress the palate preparing it for a never-ending persistence.

Exceptional paired with roasts, bbq meats, game, hearty pasta dishes, and aged cheeses

Awards:

Something special

A wine that adds a lot to a steak, makes a steak special. This wine is full of flavor and oh so smooth - highly recommended. The only disappointment will be if you only buy one and don’t have a second one to open and continue the enjoyment.

  • About The Producer

In 2010 Felice Mergè, bought and restored a building long known as the Cooperativa Comunale dei Produttori di Erchie, which had been established in 1949. He renamed it Masca del Tacco and brought the building back to its original rural splendor. Masca del Tacco subsequently expanded its vineyards in the areas of Veglie and Torricella. The warmth of the land and the influence of the sea from the Salentina peninsula, the hard-working hands of farmers, the weather: all result in extremely unique wines.

Tradition, identity and territory as well as passion, commitment and experience are the values shared by the winery. Masca Del Tacco continues to grow native grapes, making use of the soil potentiality. The vineyards are tended to manually, winemaking is traditional, and the use of aging woods is never too invasive, so as to obtain wines which are as pure as possible.
