2019 Tenuta di Sticciano Chianti Maggiano DOCG ~ Red Wine

Tenuta di Sticciano

750 ml bottle

Certified organic

100% Sangiovese from La Fornace vineyard just south-west of Florence with westerly exposure. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts for 10 days in stainless steel tanks followed by 5 months in small oak barrels and a minimum of two months ageing in the bottle. Unfiltered wine

Ruby red tending to garnet with ageing. It has an intense bouquet of small red fruit and red flowers. Persistent and well structured. The same floral notes perceived on the nose are prevalent on the palate, with further notes of ripe cherry.

This is an extremely versatile wine. It’s perfect with red meat, cured meats and cheeses and hearty pasta dishes

OMGoddess this red is AMAZING!

I'm now a convert - this was utterly delicious and it took me back to my 20s in Italy, and drinking chianti!
I've been off reds for years, and after this bottle, I'm definitely a red fan, and Louise (co-owner of Navigli) was right, this wine DID NOT GIVE ME A RED HEAD (as in dusty from a hangover!) the next day. So happy about that!
Delightful, delicious, and something pretty special. Thank you - will be back for more!

  • About The Producer

Tenuta di Sticciano is a historic seventeenth-century farm located in Fiano (Certaldo) south-west of Florence. It has a long winemaking history. Documents dating back to 1815 speak of winemaking although Sangiovese was produced even before then in the historic cellar adjoining the villa. Today at Sticciano, Chianti and other wines age in these very same cellars as three centuries ago.

The wines are an expression of this beautiful enchanted land, which require abundant care and do not know the limit of time. The land, the vines, must be listened to. The wines are alive.

Winemaker Alessio Miliotti works with a modern winemaking system that enables him to use extremely low doses of sulphites. Every 15 days each of the wines in the cellar are tasted to check their individual progress. The winery uses indigenous yeasts and is certified organic. Alessio is dedicated to authenticity without compromise.
