2018 Cieck Sust Nebbiolo Canavese DOC ~ Red Wine
100% Nebbiolo from San Giorgio Canavese, just northeast of Turin in Piedmont. The wine ages for 18 months in large oak barrels with a further six months in the bottle.
The name "Sust" in Piedmontese dialect, means “desire”, “craving”, “to care for”, “to have at heart”.
It is a rich deep ruby rose with a dark garnet rim. It's refined, elegant, with a bouquet of withered rose, hints of violet, sour cherry, and light spicy notes. Lovely long-lasting tannins, ripe fruit, and rosehip finish.
It's a match made in heaven with pasta, meat, slow-cooked meat dishes, game, cured meats, and aged cheeses
- About The Producer
The Cieck Estate was founded by Remo Falconieri in 1985 and is located in San Giorgio Canavese, Piedmont, between the towns of Turin and Ivrea.
They mainly grow Erbaluce, an ancient local white grape in addition to other native varieties such as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Neretto, and Freisa.
The land originated from the Balteo Glacier, which dragged soils rich in numerous minerals down from Valle d’Aosta. A variety of minerals can be found in the wine grown here and is its characterising feature.
